Vienna waits for you

Leaving Budapest felt like leaving home again. Onefam really became our family and saying goodbye was so hard. We had such an amazing time there. Not only was it cheap as chips everywhere but the nightlife and vibes of the city were unbeatable. It definitely became my number 1 place. We said goodbye to Inej, in the morning and off we set, to go to Vienna.

We arrived on the 16th March and had a confusing time finding our room for the night. It was down a street in a building with no sign or anything. The name of it was Chic central city rooms and we paid £12.30 a night. Once we were in we sorted our stuff out and then realised all shops were closed. Ah. We had no food and so the only option was to eat out. We went to a restaurant called Metropolitan and surprisingly it was super good. Ben got carbonara and I got bolognese (what can i say, i’m a sucker for spag bol). The pasta tasted freshly made and the sauce was perfection, one of the best spaghetti bolognese’s i’ve ever had.

Really pleasantly filled, we got back to our room, watched a movie and then went to sleep.

17th March –

This morning we were visited by ants. A lot of ants. In our food bag we must have had crumbs or something because when Ben lifted it up to take to do our food shop, a whole army appeared. Throwing most of the bag away, we put all our stuff on the bed and evacuated, hoping they would too by the time we returned.

We walked and visited Belvedere Palace as we were super close by and then headed more into the main area. We visited the National Library, St stephen’s cathedral, Hofburg Palace and the Austrian Parliament building. The architecture was stunning, everywhere you looked there was graceful white buildings. It was dreamy.

That night we got back, chicken nuggets in hand, and cooked some tea. We didn’t realise that there was no tray in the oven so we took a while laying each nugget out perfectly so they didn’t fall. We also did the same with some mozzarella sticks. While we sat and waited for them to cook, the fire alarm suddenly set off! Everyone was coming out their rooms, the room was covered in smoke and we quickly picked each individual nugget out. Once figuring out how to stop it, we laughed at our unfortunate luck and began to tuck in. The nuggets were good but sadly the mozzarella sticks had leaked and now were empty breaded cocoons. Gordon Ramsay who?! Very amused after our eventful tea, we scurried back to our room and hid away for the rest of the night.

18 March –

We went back into Vienna, using the tram this time, and did some more walking and also crossed over to the other side of the river. We found ourselves in a creepy abandoned circus like place which was so spooky but Ben enjoyed exploring.

After some more aimless wandering we got the tram back, packed our bags and got ready to move on the next day.
