A moment in Munich

We left for Munich on the 4th of April, and got there at around 7pm. We had booked a hostel called ao Hostels and after a very difficult self check in, we got to our room.

We sorted some washing out and then had a shower each. The kitchen was so small and did not have many utensils. Like there was no kettle and no pans bar one. We did manage, eventually, to get in to boil some water which we then used to make our mug shots.

Since we put our washing on quite late, it wasn’t done until after midnight. I was so sleepy so I fell asleep and left Ben to sort it all out. Thanks Ben!

5th April –

We ventured into the main town centre, Marienplatz, for lunch. The sun was out and the crowds were bustling. We entered the little market Viktualienmarkt which was adorable and I, obviously, had to get a currywurst. It was soooo nice. Definitely reccomend. We walked around some more, enjoying seeing everyone in their lederhosen’s, before heading back to our hostel. It was a lovely, chilled day and my highlight was seeing a bridal party dancing and singing in the square along with an accordion guy to ‘Love Generation’.

We had the amazing idea to wait till later for food, in hopes the kitchen would be quieter. We were wrong. The kitchen was busier and somehow even more of the pots and pans were gone. After a second check an hour later, we accepted our fate and had a little chocolate bar for our tea…how sad.

6th April

Since we felt like we had seen pretty much all that the main area of Munich had to offer, we ventured further out this day. I had seen online the BMW Welt was free to visit and immediately a lightbulb went off in my head. Girlfriend points incoming!

We got the tram to Olympiapark and then went to the Welt. We also wondered around the Olympic park, before sitting by the lake in the sun. It was a gorgeous day and lots of people were picnicking. We tried to rent a paddle boat but our cards got declined…very sad times.

When we got back we attempted to make tea earlier and luckily, this was the smartest idea. After our mug shots, we made sure we were all packed up before going to bed.

Munich was a nice place to visit, however there isn’t much to do on a budget. There’s many museums which you can visit but mostly it gives perfect day trip vibes.

TO DO :

  • Marienplatz
  • Viktualienmarkt
  • English gardens (in summer people surf and swim in the river)
  • BMW Welt
  • Olympic Park
